European Food Clusters benchmarking mission |

The EUCCK and EUKICA successfully organized a benchmarking mission from 5 to 19 June 2009 for the Korean Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MIFFAF) and the Provincial government of North Jeolla, eager to have a better knowledge of European food clusters concepts.
As part of the “Low Carbon, Green Growth” national policy in South Korea, the government has been focusing on developing Food & Fishery and Food industry into high value-added industry. Strenuous efforts are made to create synergies between food industry, R&D centres, universities and related industry in the ultimate goal of setting up a food cluster in the North Jeolla Province.
The delegation of 13 officials led by the Director General of Food Industry & Marketing Bureau of the MIFAFF, Mr Moon Kyun Bang, visited regions of Wageningen in the Netherlands, and Emilia Romagna in Italy. The programme mainly consisted of hearing experiences of partnering organisations of food clusters, such as TNO Quality of Life, Food & Nutrition Delta, Top Institute Food Nutrition, PTC+, ERVET. In the Netherlands, the Korean delegation had the opportunity to visit the Restaurant of the Future of the University of Wageningen, as well as a renowned salami and ham producer in Parma.
