EUKICA attended a two-day program organized as the final step of the EBO Capacity Building in Market Information and Dissemination project, in Hanoi, Vietnam on the 12th and the 13th of January, 2009. The first day was dedicated to an internal evaluation meeting, gathering of the partners of the project: the EUMCCI (EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry), EUROCHAM (European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam) and EUKICA, the EUCCT (EU Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan) and EUCCK (European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea).
The next day, the partners were invited to the EU-Vietnam Trade Forum - Enhancing Competitiveness- organized by EUROCHAM and attended by officials of the Vietnamese government and the Trade Counsellor of the European Commission Delegation to Vietnam.
The 14-month EC funded project was launched in December of 2007. It enabled EBO Malaysia (main Applicant) and EBO Vietnam (Asian Partner) to strengthen their capacity by benchmarking the experience of EBO Korea and Taiwan in research of trade and regulatory issues, the organization of sectoral working groups, and the development, publication and promotion of annual ¡°Trade Issues and Recommendations¡±. The project led to the creation of a single electronic platform ( www.eboasia.eu ) which reports on all major trade issues for European business in the Asian region, and provides concrete recommendations to the local authorities. The information is freely available to all EU companies, member States, EBOs and other multipliers and stakeholders in Europe and Asia. This electronic tool represents an invaluable resource of first-hand, up-to-date information for all stakeholders.
